Saints' Gramatica done for season

Sports Network | October 08, 2008

New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - The New Orleans Saints placed kicker Martin Gramatica on injured reserve Wednesday, ending his season.

Gramatica appeared in five games this season, but has been hampered by a sore groin. He has made only 6-of-10 field goals, including two crucial misses in games against Denver and Minnesota. For his career, including stints in Tampa Bay, Indianapolis and Dallas, Gramatica has made 155-of-203 field goals and has 693 career points.

To replace Gramatica, the team re-signed sixth round pick Taylor Mehlhaff, a rookie out of Wisconsin. He was a first team All-American as a senior, making 50-of-65 field goals and 145-of-148 extra points in his collegiate career.
